The Nine of Swords
Deck: Unfinished Business
Clara's upbringing was marred by relentless criticism and scrutiny. Her parents, rigid and exacting, dissected her every word and desire, shaping her into a timid, cautious adult, afraid of misspeaking or causing offense. Despite this, Clara found solace in writing, where her meticulous attention to detail and relentless pursuit of perfection flourished. She could revise and refine her words endlessly, avoiding the risk of immediate judgment.
A meet and greet event for the launch of Clara's latest novel took place on a warm summer evening in the city's beloved bookstore courtyard. Although Clara typically shied away from such events in the past, her publicist assured her that the small venue would be a wonderful place to sign and promote her book.
Clara sat at a small wooden desk as eager customers lined up to meet her. A server passed out champagne to the waiting guests, and Clara waved him over, hoping a glass would calm her nerves. The first person with a book to be signed was friendly, and Clara felt at ease. She signed a few more books and had another glass of champagne. Her rigid exterior began to shed as she engaged with each person a little longer than the last. An hour into the event and with another glass of champagne down, Clara opened up and shared stories of her childhood. She then moved on to discussing her varied interests and pet peeves. For the first time, her fans got to hear and see a Clara they never knew existed. Still spinning from the champagne, Clara collapsed onto her bed. At 3 am, Clara woke up with a splitting headache. All of a sudden, a rush of worry washed over her. What did she say? What did she share? What torturous secrets had she unleashed, now impossible to return to their confines?

When Clara reveals herself, she brings forth echoes from spirits who've known the depths of despair and anxiety. The Nine of Swords is a poignant reminder of the weight and impact of our thoughts, particularly when they spiral into overthinking, guilt, and self-inflicted torment. "Do not become ensnared in the web of your darkest thoughts." While it's natural to experience moments of doubt and anxiety, it's essential to differentiate between genuine concerns and self-imposed fears. Seek solace in communication, sharing your worries with someone you trust. Often, voicing your fears can dispel their power. Remember, the darkest hour is just before dawn; even in the ghostly realm, there is a light of understanding and hope that can guide you out of the shadows.
